Rago is Norway´s smallest national park. It continues with three larger parks across the Swedish border. Together they form the largest continous reserved area in Europe. Rago´s wildness, colour of lakes, depth of canyos are breathtaking. In the map you´ll find unpronouncable Sami names such as Luojdotjáhkká, Rivgočohkká or Ráhkotjáhkká, the last one being a Sami name for the highest mountain Rago (1322 m). Agelong Sami settlement adds to the apparently uninhabited landscape another, mystical dimension. Even today one can come across a striking stone underlayed with a fox tail, a bone or a few coins as offerings for deities...
